The 2019 European Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP) Research Academy meeting will take place in Vienna on the 28-29th June, ahead of the ESCAP international congress (30 June – 2 July, Vienna, Austria).
Our biennial meetings aim to promote research excellence, and collaborative work among young clinician-scientists in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP). The ESCAP Research Academy supports early careers by promoting training, encouraging collaborations, and provides a forum to share experiences with senior world-leading researchers in psychiatry.
Our next meeting will focus on “Novel technologies for diagnostic assessment and treatment in child and adolescent psychiatry: history, current development and future perspectives”. Four international experts in the field of virtual reality, computational psychotherapy, genetics and epidemiology will present their work. Professor Frank Verhulst will give an introductory lecture on how technological development shaped our vision of mental illness.
This 2-day meeting will be chaired by two clinician-scientists, Dr Paul Klauser and Dr Alexis Revet, and by Professor Johannes Hebebrand, Editor-in-chief of European Child + Adolescent Psychiatry (ECAP) and head of the ESCAP Research Division. After the meeting, attendees will continue to collaborate within a network to tackle a research question at the European level. An article on the current situation of CAP training in Europe, co-authored by several attendees of the ESCAP 2015 Research Academy meeting in Madrid, will be submitted to ECAP shortly.
